1st Customer Review : The clear choice in kettles
I hope I can be forgive for my terrible pun. Let me start off by saying I've decided to start consistently reviewing what I purchase from Amazon because I find so many reviews are 1 or 5 stars and really don't get into the fine details of the pros and cons of a product. Very few things are complete garbage, and conversely there isn't much out there that's totally perfect. So now that I have my little disclaimer out of the way...
This kettle looks wonderful. The design is elegant and it looks great staying out on the kitchen counter with other oft used items like a juicer, toaster or coffee maker. To facilitate this Breville has recessed the base of the unit to allow you to conveniently wind the cord to the ideal length for your needs so the unit looks aesthetically pleasing without miles of cord sticking out.
The kettle functions perfectly. There are clearly marked measurements on the side of the jug to avoid overfilling. These should be carefully adhered to...

2nd Customer Review : ALMOST plastic/rubber free.
Pros:
Beautiful design.
Easy to use.
EXTREMELY FAST- hot water within a matter of seconds. Minutes to full boil (we are at sea level).
Awesome "ring" outlet for easy plug/unplug action.
Cons:
After searching through just about EVERY electric kettle currently on the market, we reluctantly settled on this model.
Sadly, there is absolutely no way to 100% avoid plastic or rubber in a device like this.
Apparently, most people don't even notice the rubber washer on this model, but it's there- on the section that receives the most heat!
The kettle's interior is all glass except the very bottom floor of the water reservoir, which is the metal heating element.
The lip where the metal meets the glass requires a translucent rubbery ring (washer) to create a proper seal.
But, that also means this ring is completely exposed to the liquid contents you are heating.
I'm sure it's "BPA free" and "safe" as all the...
3rd Customer Review : Love it. Returned stainless kettle for this glass one...
I returned the Breville stainless kettle due to the plastic (bpa worries) in it. I still see some plastic in this one around the top, but at least it is not in the boiling area. Wish that were another material. Sigh.
I do LOVE seeing the water boiling. I can glance and judge how long I have to wait. And it is mesmerizing....like watching a fire. I would like an optional beep when done rather than it just turning off...but really if I think about it, we have too many beeping things in our lives.
Also I see other reviews saying they wish it were bigger. I fill it above the water line all the time and there is no spillage or problems.
Quick take: love it. Love seeing the water. Wish all the plastic parts were removed from the water area. It is super fast! We use it every day all day long.
