Got these for my mom who bakes a lot. She really likes them! Can also be used to soften butter. When doing butter, only heat it in microwave for 1 1/2 min and then add your butter.

2nd Customer Review : WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE THINK OF THIS SOONER?
I USED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS PAST WEEK WHEN MAKING CHEESECAKE. SOME BRANDS OF CREAM CHEESE ARE NOT AS SOFT AS THE PHILADELPHIA BRAND AND IT WORKED GREAT FOR SOFTENING THE CREAM CHEESE. IT MAKES IT A NICE CREAMY CONSISTNECY PERFECT FOR MIXING. I BOUGHT THE CREAM CHEESE SIZE SOFTENER SINCE I FIGURED I COULD USE IT FOR SOFTENING BUTTER AS WELL. THAT WAS THE MAIN REASON I BOUGHT THIS ITEM AND THIS SIZE WORKS WELL FOR THAT TOO. I WILL NO LONGER HAVE TO POSTPONE MY BAKING BECAUSE OF HARD BUTTER. MICROWAVING THE BUTTER MAKES IT TOO SOFT, SO THIS IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I COULD NOT START BAKING WHEN I WANTED TO BECAUSE I FORGOT TO SET OUT THE BUTTER THE NIGHT BEFORE. THIS WILL NO LONGER DELAY ME SO THAT WILL BE A REAL TIME SAVER. AND MY TIME REALLY MATTERS TO ME!

Have used for cream cheese and also butter with reduced heating time. Works pretty good - a little melting of the product, but no problems. Cleans easily.
